People from all sections of society should support the nation-wide bandh called by the political parties of the National Democratic Alliance to protest against the anti-people policies of the UPA government, member of BJP national executive K. Haribabu said.
Attacking the recent hike in prices of diesel and restriction on the number of subsidised LPG cylinders per connection, he told the media here on Tuesday that the government was not sensitive to the needs and aspirations of the common man.
The UPA government went back on the statement made on the floor of Parliament that any decision on FDI in retail would be taken only after consultation with the State governments and other stakeholders and took a decision to allow foreign direct investment in retail trade.
“One can imagine how much the credibility of the government has eroded that it is unable to get its view point across in the media and is now resorting to publish advertisements in mainstream media on why it took the decisions. In the advertisement too it is full of falsehood.
It has claimed that the all-party Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas has unanimously recommended limiting the number of subsidised LPG cylinders that could be supplied to a customer.
The Standing Committee had suggested that subsidised LPG cylinders should not be supplied to members of legislative bodies and also those whose income was more than Rs. 6 lakh per annum,” the BJP leader said.
BJP city president Nagendra, BJP Yuva Morcha president Madhav were also present.
