The coast between RK Mission here and Bheemunipatnam will be developed in a major way thanks to the Vizag-Bheemli beach corridor mega project for which the Union Tourism Ministry granted Rs. 48 crore to the AP Tourism Development Corporation, Collector V. Sheshadri said here on Monday.

Union Minister of State for Tourism K. Chiranjeevi will lay foundation for the project on May 4. The APTDC, which was asked to prepare the components for the projects, engaged the APTICO and the ILFS to prepare a report. “This is an open ended exercise and no decision is taken yet on what has to be done as no specific project is suggested. APTDC MD Chandana Khan has asked them to identify what cane be done and later take feedback from civil society groups and others seeking additions and improvements,” Mr. Sheshadari told reporters.

While converting the entire stretch of the Vizag-Bheemli road cannot be taken under this project, beautification of beaches; providing uniform look for all parks, clean and green; providing shelters; toilets; finding new areas on the coast for developing them into beaches with all facilities and many other aspects can be explored, he said.

During the day, Minister for Infrastructure and Investments Ganta Srinivasa Rao visited Bheemli beach road along with MLA M. Srinivasa Rao, Municipal Commissioner Ram Mohana Rao, Tahsildar Bhavani Shankar, Special Officer T. Praveena and officials of Tourism and other departments.
