Director Naresh Kancharana has won the awards for best film and best cinematography for his film 'Mother' and director Sudheer Kumar won the best direction and best script for Mahatham Katha in the State-level short film festival organised by DQ School of Visual Arts and Millennium Software Solutions. The awards were presented at a function on Saturday at Gurajada Kalakshetram. Over 1,600 entries were received, and the best five entries were screened at the programme.

Chairman of the A.P. State Council for Higher Education P. Venugopal Reddy, noted director A. Kodandarami Reddy, Harish Shankar of Gabbar Singh fame, Merapaka Gandhi (Venkatadri Express), and Indraganti Mohan Krishna, writers — Kona Venkat and Gopimohan — and noted actor and dialogue writer Tanikella Bharani were among those who participated in the event. CEO of Millennium Software Solutions G. Sridhar Reddy, and Naga Prasad and Srinivas of DQSVA spoke.
