Long very long ago, the city was described as an entertainment-starved place.
But now, with several options springing up, people are spending their leisure time in style. The latest to join the growing entertainment zones in the city is the bowling alley ‘Bowl N Roll’.
A newly opened venture by two engineering graduates – Dilip Ramdev and Satya Prasad Ganta – located on the VIP Road, it also has an archery and motion gaming zone apart from a terrace lounge with big screen for IPL and sports matches and a food counter.
For the young crowd of the city, the coming up for entertainment zones like this have added the much-needed dash of fun and adventure to their summer holidays.
“We have experienced bowling in places like Bengaluru and to experience the same in our city is definitely a great feeling. We don’t have to just think of going to pubs for hanging out with friends. Activity zones like these coming up in the centre of the city is a great relief for girls particularly. I feel it is a safer hangout option than pubs,’ says Pritika Nair, youngster who came to experience the bowling alley.
Developed at a total cost of Rs 50 lakh, the entire set-up of the two-lane bowling alley was brought from the Delhi branch of AMF Bowling Centre, the world’s leading operator of bowling centres.Challenging taks
“Vizag is a difficult market. Getting a space in the heart of the city was the most challenging part of the venture. It took more than eight months to finalise on the place and then we began setting up the paraphernalia,” say Dilip and Satya.
As part of their maiden venture, they have tied-up with six restaurants in the city to provide food and snacks.
“We call it pick-your-restaurant, where you get to select food from many eateries in the city, but under one roof,” Dilip adds.
