United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on Sunday launched a signature campaign to press for its charter of demands to safeguard public sector banks.
The signatures collected from the public and employees at Kursura Submarine Museum, Rythu Bazaars and other places will be submitted to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan seeking her intervention to stop weakening public sector banks.
Among others, various bank union representatives R.V. Ravi Kumar, A. Yugandhar, P. Mangapathi, A. Saroja, P. Arun Prasad and R. Vasantha Rao took part in the campaign. The 27-charter of demands of UFBU includes strengthening and expanding public sector banks, stopping of consolidation and privatisation, writing off non-performing assets, declaring wilful defaulters as criminals, etc.
