Steps being taken to complete pending projects under Jala Yagnam, he says
Minister for Tribal Welfare Pasupuleti Balaraju here on Monday detailed about the measures being taken by the Rosaiah Government for the development of the State in general and the city and the district in particular. Speaking at a function organised at the Collectorate to mark the Andhra Pradesh Formation Day celebrations here,Mr. Balaraju said the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy was fixed at Rs.1,030 per quintal in view of the steep increase in the area under paddy cultivation. The Government would, if necessary, would directly procure the paddy from farmers and ensure implementation of the MSP. He said measures were being taken for the completion of various pending projects taken up under ‘Jala Yagnam', the pet project of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
A total of Rs.127 crores was spent on the Indira Sagar (Polavaram) Left Canal for provision of irrigation facilities to 1.50 lakh hectares. The construction and modernisation of various heavy, medium and small irrigation projects taken up at an estimated cost of Rs.188.60 crores were in various stages.
Mr. Balaraju said efforts were being made to develop King George Hospital on the lines of Nizam's Institute of Medical Science (NIMS).
