The Badminton Players’ Parents’ Association is conducting a district-level tournament for boys and girls in the under-10, 13 and 15 age groups at the Swarna Bharati Indoor Stadium here on June 9 and 10. Director of Sports of GVMC Y. Srinivas released a poster of the tournament on Saturday. The tournament is open to players from the district, veteran international player and former many-time State champion K.P. Naik, association office-bearers Ch. Ramakrishna, S.S.N. Raju, D. Chandrasekhar, Sanyasi Rao and Suryanarayana Rao have informed at a press conference. The tournament is approved by the District Badminton Association. The association is organising the tournament and planning to conduct more in future, to provide competitive atmosphere for young children in a bid to encourage them and to spot talented players so that they can be groomed.
