Awareness walk in Vizag marks World Kidney Day

A large number of people from different walks of life participated in an awareness walk organised on the occasion of World Kidney Day.

Commissioner of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy flagged off the walk and also joined the participants in covering the route from Kalimata temple to YMCA.

‘Need for checkup’

Noted nephrologist T. Raviraju, Superintendent of King George Hospital M. Madhusudhana Babu, noted gastroenterologist E. Pedaveerraju, director of cathlab of Apollo Hospitals Baruah, doctors and staff of Apollo Hospitals participated.

The Apollo Hospitals organised the walk to create awareness among the people about the various kidney diseases and their impact on the health.

Any problem with the kidneys must be detected early.

Theme of this year’s World Kidney Day is ‘Acute kidney injury: stop kidney attack’.

Dr. Raviraju stressed the need for regular check up of kidneys, particularly by those having high blood pressure and are diabetic.
