Employees of Eisai Pharmatechnology participated in a walk on the beach road here on Saturday to create awareness among people about Alzheimer’s disease and mosquito-borne diseases like malaria, filariasis, and dengue.
A Yoga awareness session was organised for the employees and others at Yoga Village, in association with Andhra University.
The walk was flagged off by District Malaria Officer K.V.S Prasada Rao. AGM of Vizag Steel Hospital Narasinga Rao, Senior Director of Eisai S.R. Saini, Director Kazuhiko Tamura, AGM Lokesh Kumar Sharma, Senior Manager S. Somnath and others were present.
A press release stated that, Eisai as per an MOU with WHO was supplying free of charge 2.2 Billion tablets of 100 mg each for a period of next six years to control lymphatic filariasis from its local plant. It has also adopted Yarada village. Each employee of the company has to spend one per cent of his or her working hours in a direct interaction with patients and care-givers.
Eisai has also started a Memory Clinic at KGH to conduct free tests for Alzheimer’s disease.
