Outlining the advantages of conserving electricity through energy-efficient measures, CBM Compound Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) organised an awareness camp on Sunday at Zilla Parishad premises.

With an aim to reduce power consumption by considering cost-effective alternatives, the maiden programme was featured by the association involving colony residents and invitees.

It was followed by a distribution programme wherein the residents of the colony were given LED bulbs, tubelights and energy-efficient ceiling fans. MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu, who inaugurated the event, briefed the gathering on the importance of saving electricity and measures to be considered to protect environment.

He gave away energy-efficient appliances to the residents and enquired about various activities undertaken by the association in promoting clean and green initiatives.

The association members also explained the importance of maintaining clean environs through garbage (dry and wet) segregation, recycling and composting.
