A three-member gang, all auto-rickshaw drivers, involved in about 10 house-breaking cases, was busted by the Pendurthi police on Sunday. The arrested were identified as Mantri Chinna Naidu (22) alias Madireddy Ramanaidu alias Bunny, Kona Chandra Sekhar (22), and Nammi Srinu (30).
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone- I) G. Ramgopal Naik, the accused were involved in a series of offences -- four in Pendurthi area, three in MVP Colony and one each in Chodavaram, Gajuwaka and Kancharapalem.
The offenders followed a unique modus operandi , said the DCP.
The police formed a special team with ACP V. Bheema Rao, Inspectors of Pendurthi -- Lakshman Murhty and Rajula Naidu (crime) -- to nab the offenders. They were caught near a dhaba at Gajuwaka on Saturday night.
All the three were old offenders and have suspect sheets opened in their names in various police stations.
The offender after committing the burglary, instead of selling the articles, mortgaged them at a private bank.
Asked whether any action would be initiated against the bankers, the DCP said that the police were investigating the case.
