Auto driver robs woman of gold ornaments

A woman was robbed of her gold ornaments, weighing 90 gm, by an auto driver and four others at Bodametlapalem under Bheemunipatnam Police Station limits here on Wednesday evening. The incident came to light on Thursday after the victim lodged a complaint with the police.

T. Jayaprada (45) of Dabagardens, a teacher at the ZP High School at R.V. Puram village of Padmanabham mandal, boarded an autorickshaw on the National Highway at Maharajupeta junction to go to Vizianagaram and from there to Cheepurapalli to attend a marriage after school hours on Wednesday evening.

There were four other youths in the auto.

The driver diverted the vehicle after reaching Bodametlapalem. The woman screamed for help noticing that the driver had taken a diversion.

Threatening her with knives, the driver and the four occupants robbed her of her gold ornaments, Rs.500 in cash and her debit cards.

Pushed out of auto

They pushed her out of the vehicle and fled in the auto.

The victim reached Bheemunipatnam after several ordeals late in the night and lodged a complaint.

Bheemunipatnam Inspector S. Lakshmana Murthy registered a case under Section 395 and is investigating it.
