Tension prevailed at the Collectorate here on Monday when around 1000 workers of Aurobindo Pharma Limited stormed the premises demanding fulfilment of their demands by the government.
Despite the presence of security at the main entrance, the workers gained entry into premises of the Collectorate. Earlier, the workers took out a a ‘Chalo Collectorate’ rally from 7 Road Junction.
Workers led by Indian Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU), who have been agitating over the ‘illegal’ transfer of 14 employees and delay in recognising the union by Labour Department for the last two weeks, insisted that district Collector Saurabh Gaur should come and listen to their grievances. IFTU leaders, including M.Venkateswara Rao, Neelam Raju, K.Sanyasi Rao and others, were not convinced when they were told by officials that their problems would be brought to the notice of the . As the workers were not relenting, the Collector came out and assured them that he would hold talks with the management of Aurobindo Pharma on July 25.
