Prior to 2011, Andhra University practised the system of double evaluation of answer scripts. This system had been prevalent ever since the semester system was introduced by the 90-year-old university in the early part of 1990s.
But the system was scrapped by the university in 2011, as there was a strong representation that the declaration of results was being delayed due to the long process of double evaluation, as the scripts were corrected by one internal and one external examiner.
But the process of double evaluation has been brought back and it will be implemented from the 2017-18 academic year. And it has been cleared by the Academic Senate of the university, said AU Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Nageswara Rao, in an exclusive talk with The Hindu .
According to the V-C, the system was removed as there was thought that the declaration of results was being delayed. “To a certain extent there was some truth in it. But over the years we have seen that the single evaluation system lacks transparency,” he said.
