Andhra University would take up collaborative programmes with Swedish universities to put the university on the global research and technological map, Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju said during discussions with a team of representatives from two Swedish universities here on Friday.
The Swedish delegation led by Vice-Chancellor of Blekinge Institue of Technology (BTH) Anders Hederstierna and Dean of Linkoping University Anna Lena discussed with Prof. Raju and earlier with other AU officials, the possible collaboration in the areas of telecommunications, software engineering, nano technology, biomedical technology and industrial management with Swedish Universities particularly in research. Possibility of running five-year integrated twinning programmes with Blekinge Institute of Technology and Linkoping University was also discussed.
AU and Linkoping University will sign a memorandum of understanding to facilitate exchange of students and faculty members to promote research and coordinate in the areas of technology.
Mr.Hederstierma, Mr. Lars Holberg along with Director of Studies (faculty of science and engineering) of Linkoping University Annalena Kindgren and Senior Expert (international relations) of BTH Maria Engelmark held discussions with Registrar of AU K. Ram Mohan Rao, and Principals of constituent colleges on modalities of the MoU. The Swedish universities have expressed their satisfaction over the ongoing research in AU. Linkoping University is one of the top three universities in Sweden and has a strong foundation in nano technology and also mobile technology. Prof. Dhanunjaya Rao, Dean (academic affairs) L.D. Sudhakar Babu and others participated.
