Attention diversion gang strikes at LIC office

An attention diversion gang, posing as policy holders of LIC, stole ₹1.72 lakh by diverting the attention of cashier at the LIC head office in the city on Wednesday.

The staff of the LIC noticed the missing of the cash around 3.30 pm and informed the police.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Central Crime Station (CCS), Y Govinda Rao said they were examining the CCTV footage to identify the culprits.

Sources in police said a six-member gang entered the LIC office premises and one of them entered inside the cash counter while five others were busy distracting the cashier at around 12.35 pm.

The cashier noticed at around 3.30 pm that ₹1.72 lakh cash, all in ₹ 2,000 denominations were missing. The police have registered a case and investigation is on.
