He declared the new deadline of April 2013 after a review on Sunday.
Minister for Infrastructure, Investments and Ports Ganta Srinivasa Rao set yet another date for the completion of the four-year-in-construction Asilmetta flyover in Vizag.
He declared the new deadline of April 2013 after a review with the officials of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation and Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority and the contractor handling the project in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. He said during the review he acquainted himself of the various issues plaguing the project and directed the officials to follow up the work on a war footing. A number of issues like shifting of electricity poles, neighbouring structures and land issues with railway had delayed the project, he added.
It may be recalled that on August 29, senior IAS officer M. V. Satyanarayana, after taking over as Commissioner of GVMC, had announced that the Asilmetta flyover would be completed by the year-end and that the officials had been directed to follow up the issues on a war-footing.
The Minister took the opportunity to announce that the foundation for the T. Subbarami Reddy Kalapeetham would be laid on September 17 to mark the birthday of the member of the Rajya Sabha. Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development M. Maheedhar Reddy and Rajya Sabha member Chiranjeevi are also expected to attend the function, he said.
The various ongoing works of the VUDA and GVMC were followed up by the officials, he said. The civil works on the Telugu Museum were already completed and they were waiting for a convenient date from Prime Minister or President for its inauguration. It was likely to be inaugurated in December or January, he added.
A cultural complex was proposed at the beach near the Novotel hotel on the Beach Road, the Minster announced.
He also reviewed the progress of VUDA Children’s Theatre. A number of officials of the GVMC and VUDA were also present.
