Artisans from different parts of the country displayed their skill and creativity at the exhibition-cum-sale of Lepakshi that started here at T.T.D. Kalyanamandapam, MVP Colony, on Saturday.
The exhibition was inaugurated by GVMC Commissioner V.N. Vishnu.
The exhibition has a range of handlooms. Kalamkari with its lucid and colourful depiction of the epics and landscapes is the available in different varieties here. Materials in a range of soothing colours in soft cottons are available here.
For the ensemble, check out the sarees and dress materials from Madhya Pradesh, Bengal, Tamil Nadu and UP ranging from Rs.250 onwards and a blinding array of tops, skirts, chaniya cholis, bedsheets, and cushion covers.
Among the crafts, there are Kondapalli toys from Krishna district, Etikoppaka toys, leather puppets from Anantapur district, crochet lace from West Godavari district, perals and metals from Warangal, jute bags and clay dolls from Bengal, Tamil Nadu's Tanjore paintings, wood carvings from Rajasthan and carpets from Uttar Pradesh.
There is a stall of eco-friendly hand-made paper items from Vizag based group Green House.
Colourful range
A colourful range of items like photo frames, files and gift boxes are on display here.
The exhibition also has an array of handlooms like Chanderi and Maheshwari sarees, Venkatgiri, Narayanapet sarees, Kashmiri tops and embroidered sarees, ‘kurtis' from Jaipur, bedsheets from Haryana, rosewood carvings from Karnataka and dresses from Gujarat. The exhibition will be on till August 3 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
