The underground drainage work seems to be taking quite a long time with several roads still being dug out for it.
The work at Dondaparti has been completed but if one is not wary the uneven road could topple the driver.
The roads dug out long time ago for UGS are re-laid now. If the same delay occurs for the new roads it would be tortuous for the residents. At Jagannadharaju Nagar near Isukathota near the high way, the road is dug out for underground drainage. The road can not be immediately restored.
But the rubble has been left as it is. This could be truly dangerous. At a recent meeting the Police Commissioner and other experts stated that the number of accidents could be brought down with more illumination. It was stated in the context of lack of lighting on the Madhurawada road.
But even on small stretches with power-cut being so frequent, leaving the rubble could prove dangerous. Removing the rubble and laying a kachha (temporary) road is the minimum the corporation could do to ensure safety of road-users. Unless the step is a made a part of the digging of roads for UGD, safety will be at a premium.
