Noted actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao inaugurated the Ghantasala Sangeetha Kalasala of T Sharathchandra here on Saturday.
Mr. Nageswara Rao was closely associated with the legendary singer Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao and the journey of the duo in Telugu cinema was so victorious and earned many rewards and awards to both of them. Recalling his association with Ghantasala, Mr. Nageswara Rao underlined the need to preserve the values of music and voice of the legendary singer.
He appreciated the efforts of singer Sharathchandra in training budding singers.
Mr. Sharathchandra, the founder of Ghantasala Smaraka Peetham and Ghantasala Sangeetha Kalasala, said that Mr. Nageswara Rao had inaugurated the college in Hyderabad three years ago and now inaugurated one in Visakhapatnam.
The college would offer six-month and one-year diploma courses on Ghantasala light music, songs and music.
Later in the evening, Mr. Nageswara Rao was honoured with ‘Ghantasala Puraskara Satkaram’ at the function organised at Gurajada Kalakshetram.
Sharathchandra presented a number of super hit songs of Ghantasala in the movies for Mr. Nageswara Rao.
