A software engineer filed a case under the Domestic Violence Act in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court here on Monday against her husband and his parents and sought compensation of Rs. 4 crore and pay back the dowry and ornaments totalling Rs. 1.11 crore and Rs. 40 lakh spent on their marriage.
The petitioner Jasti Greeshma, a resident of Daspalla Hills, alleged in the petition that her husband Sudhakar was not a top executive in a major software company earning hefty salary as claimed by his parents Anand Chandulal and Rajyalakshmi but he was an alcoholic and drug addict. They also claimed that he had done his M.Tech. at IIT-Kharagpur.
The marriage was held on March 11, 2011. Her husband and in-laws were harassing her for additional dowry and demanding that she transfer all the property in her name to Sudhakar. A complaint, filed by her in the Three Town Police Station under Sec. 498, and a maintenance petition, are pending in the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court and the Family Court respectively.
