Some Maoists, with the support of militia members, reportedly destroyed country-made liquor and warned tribal people against brewing illicit liquor at the weekly shandy at Busiput village of Pedabayalu mandal on Wednesday.
Security forces have been combing the strongholds of Maoists in Visakhapatnam district for the past few days in the wake of the killing of Special Intelligence Branch constable K Appanna by Left wing extremists.
The Maoists are demanding a halt to the green hunt operations and release of their cadre.
Security has been beefed up at all police stations in the Agency areas and the police are also on high alert at the entry points from neighbouring Odisha, according to reports reaching here.

These acts would not appease the people or the govt, unless they avoid the path they are now traveling,by joining the main stream. They should first shun the violence and abductions, often taking the govt to ransom at will, not for any useful cause, but for freeing their cadre from the jails is unfortunate.Their oft-repeated claims that they are for the cause of the forest dwellers doesn't holds water anymore, given their destructive ideology.
