45 employees transferred following counselling
The election code of conduct that came into effect following the declaration of by-election schedule has halted the internal transfer process in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation.
In the counselling process on Tuesday morning, 45 employees were transferred. The counselling process was taken up under the supervision of B. Ramanjaneyulu with Additional Commissioners S. Krishna Murthy and K. Ramesh and Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) M. Viswanatham participating.
However, with the election schedule being announced and the model code of conduct coming into force from afternoon, separate orders were issued asking those who got the transfer orders to join their new posts only after the elections.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Commissioner warned of strict action against unauthorised constructions. Stating that some deviations had come to his notice, he said such deviations would be removed and the cost recovered from the owners of such buildings.
After he had received a complaint by SMS, the Commissioner got unauthorised construction taken up in the cellar of Sriram Apartments at Balayya Sastry Layout removed. He directed the zone commissioner to stop all amenities being provided by GVMC to the building.
