In view of the increased construction activity in the state of Andhra Pradesh post bifurcation, the Builders Association of India has felt the need to reconstitute its state unit and appointed former chairman of its Visakhapatnam Centre Ch. Ramakotaiah as chairman of the AP State unit.
The decision to reconstitute the state committee and appoint Ramakotaiah was taken at last month meeting in Jaipur. He was handed over the appointment letter in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Reacting to his appointment, Mr. Ramakotaiah said: “It is a great opportunity for builders in the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh, as a new capital has to be built and the State government is also drawing up ambitious plans to develop other towns and cities in the State in a decentralised mode. It is estimated that construction activity worth more than a Rs. 1 lakh crore may take place in the coming years.”
Under the circumstances, it was essential that the BAI and its members focus on delivering quality. This was a crucial juncture for the state and the members of the BAI, he said. Thanking the BAI for reposing trust in him, Mr. Ramakotaiah promised that he would uphold high professional standards.
