An eight-member delegation of the AP Advocates Joint Action Committee found the Chief Justice of India Mr. Justice H.L. Dattu positive towards establishing a separate High Court for the State. The JAC delegation met Mr. Justice Dattu in New Delhi on Thursday to request him to establish a separate High Court for the State.
The CJI informed the JAC that where to establish the High Court in Andhra Pradesh was the question to be addressed and also said proper buildings have to be identified for the High Court, joint convenor of the JAC and president of the Visakhapatnam Bar Association J. Pridhviraj told The Hindu from New Delhi.
When Mr. Justice Dattu said if buildings were identified in A.P., the Registrar of Supreme Court or he himself would examine them, the JAC informed him that it would take up the issue with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and convince him to identity buildings as soon as possible. Once the buildings are identified the same would be informed to the CJI, Mr. Pridhviraj said. Union Law Minister Sadananda Goud had also responded positively for establishing a separate High Court for AP when the JAC delegation met him, Mr. Pridhviraj said.
JAC members Muppalla Subba Rao, Kanakamedala Ravindranath, S. Krishna Mohan, Bandaru Babu, Chidambaram and others met Mr. Justice Dattu.
