The Annual Credit Plan for 2010-11 for Visakhapatnam district was fixed at Rs. 4,966 crores, Collector J. Syamala Rao announced here after the special meeting of the District Consultative Committee on Tuesday.

For the priority sector, the loan amount is Rs. 2,899 crores. It is Rs. 1.060 crores for sectors other than the priority sector.

The loans for different sectors are Rs. 540 crores during kharif and rabi seasons; Rs. 137 crores as agriculture term loans; Rs. 102 crores for agriculture related activities; Rs. 350 crores for non-agriculture sectors; Rs. 335 crores for micro and small enterprises and Rs. 672 crores for medium level enterprises.

The Collector wanted the bankers to cross the targets and solve problems by understanding the reasons. Loans for the weaker and downtrodden sections must be made available without delay. Bankers could help in the development of the district by crossing the targets, he said.

Noting that the average loan being availed of in the Agency area was less, he wanted more awareness created among the girijan beneficiaries on the government schemes and facilities and make them utilise the loan facility from the banks.

Mr. Syamala Rao congratulated Commissioner of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation V.N. Vishnu and Project Officer of UCD Project K.V. Ramana Murthy for crossing the target in providing bank linkage to the urban women beneficiaries under the Indira Kranti Pathakam.

Bank account

While reminding the banks that bank account was necessary for implementing a scheme or programme and for a beneficiary to receive concessions online, the Collector wanted the banks to open special counters for the beneficiaries to open accounts. The officers should coordinate with the field staff and advise them on opening accounts and handing over passbooks, he said.

The Collector appreciated NABARD for conducting training programmes for farmers on forward market trading by using computers and internet.

Manager of State Bank of India, the District Lead Bank, Radhakrishna, explained about the annual credit plan. Assistant General Manger of NABARD C. Udaya Bhaskar, Additional Joint Collector S. Satyanarayana, senior officers of various banks, Project Director of IKP Srikanth Prabhakar, CEO of District Housing Corporation Prasad, and other officials attended.
