The weekend evening was soothing for those who longed to listen to old Tamil classics. The live concert-‘Cine Music’ organised by Tamil Kalai Mandram charmed the audience with songs from Tamil movies like ‘Anbe Vaa’, ‘Palum Pazhamum’, ‘Nizhalgal’, ‘Agni Nakshatram’ and other songs here on Sunday.

The hall was packed with people tapping to the melodious music and applauding the singers enthusiastically for every tune. K. Parthiban captured the attention of the gathering with his calming tone while singing ‘idu oru pon malai pozhudu’. The evening fervour was spirited with musical threads of maestro Ilayaraja in pleasing tones. For many, the musical chords brought old memories in its sweet form, while P. Gitanjali contributed to the melodies in her own way.

There were volunteers who came forward to sing during the show. Nikhita Srivalli sang ‘ninnu kori varnam’ from Agni Nakshatram in a very appealing tone.

Movie Director Jacob Samuel of ‘Suravali’ fame attended the concert and announced that he wanted to select playback singers for his new movie ‘Vipunan’.

Cine Music orchestra from Chennai performed along with local artistes Mr. Ramji and Mr. Giri, assisting with keyboard and other musical instruments. Vice president M. Ravi Kumar, J. Anantharaman and others were present.
