AMC students excel at State annual meet

Students of Andhra Medical College won a medal and a cash prize along with a second prize in the fourth State annual conference on medical education organised by the GSL Medical College, Rajahmundry during the last weekend.

B. Teja Naveen bagged the C. Janaki Memorial Medal in the students section for his paper on medicos’ perception about the compulsory rural services, M. Gowtham received the Dr. T. Venugopala Rao cash prize for his poster on a novel game for medical students, called Medical Battleship. G. Yeshwanth’s poser on waxing and waning interests in MBBS received second prize.

Four other papers, on HAMSA, the students-driven educational activity at AMC by Manas Krihshnakant; on conveying news of death by V. Mukesh Kumar; compulsory basic life support training for interns by P. Saroj were appreciated by the participants, according to a press release here.

Rector of NTR University of Health Sciences M.V. Ramanamma while inaugurating the conference said the university was keen that all the faculty members were trained in the science of educational technology over the next two years.

UHS was also planning to start a third regional centre of the Medical Council of India’s medical education technology at Tirupati, Dr. Ramanamma said. Two centres are at present working at Gandhi and Andhra medical colleges. Principal of GSL Medical College Y.V. Sharma presided.
