Participants at the 88 death anniversary of revolutionary leader Alluri Seetharama Raju on Monday gave a call for doing away with the government policies resulting in corruption, soaring prices, and unemployment, besides bauxite mining and ensure protection of tribal rights.
At a programme organised by the district units of the Democratic Youth Federation of India, the Students Federation of India, and the Girijana Sangham in front of the Alluri Seetharama Raju statue at Seethammadhara junction in the morning, the participants raised slogans and performed ‘abhishekam' to the statue with milk. DYFI district secretary V.V. Srinivasa Rao said it was a pity that the government did not bother about great freedom fighters such as Alluri but erected statues of self-centred politicians. SFI city secretary B. Jagan and Girijana Sangham leader K. Satyanarayana spoke.
