Combining free medical check up, distribution of medicines, yoga demonstration and a host of health lectures, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH), is organising a four-day ‘National Arogya Fair-2017’ from Friday.

With an aim to encourage people to consider using alternative medicine to tackle lifestyle diseases which are increasing at an alarming rate, AYUSH is organising the fair involving both private players and exhibitors from various government institutions.

Sharing details at a press conference on Thursday, Principal Director of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vivek Seigell said several patients were now keen on opting for alternative treatment which itself was a welcome sign. “Ayurveda, homoeopathy and other branches of naturopathy have now become an intrinsic part of the health system. The national fair gives an opportunity for many to look intosolutions that alternative medicine offer,” said Mr. Seigell.

While more than 60 counters will be put up by several private brands from across the country, eight stalls will be dedicated to the departments of AYUSH. Close to four medicine distribution points and a dozen OPD counters to carry out free medical check up form a part of the exhibition.

Apart from yoga sessions and health talks delivered by experts, assorted medicinal plants will be displayed at the grounds. A cultural show will also be held at the venue in the evening.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik, Special Secretary of Ministry of AYUSH Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Chairman of AYUSH committee, PHD chamber Pradeep Multani will attend the inaugural programme at Andhra University grounds, behind Dr. Y.V.S. Murthy auditorium, AU College of Engineering.
