rrangements are in place for the colourful Visakha Utsav, a rich combination of cultural events with renowned singers performing, flower show and folk arts beginning Friday.
The main cultural stage “Vedika” with themes of Siva and Parvati and Kailasagiri on one side and noted Girijan dance Dhimsa got final touches on Thursday evening at Ramakrishna Beach.
The mega tourism and cultural festival will be inaugurated by Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu who is the district in-charge Minister at Vedika on Friday evening.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will participate in the utsav on Saturday.
Flower show “Parimala” at VUDA Park and replicas of temples of north Andhra on the Beach Road near Viswapriya function hall will be inaugurated on Friday morning.
VUDA has announced free entry to VUDA Park where the flower show is being organised by it for three days from January 1 to 3 during Visakha Utsav. The venue for the utsav is being readied.
At the main stage on the first day playback singer Mano will perform.
On the second day renowned playback singer S P Balasubrahmanyam and on the third day pop singer Usha Uthup will perform. Jaatara at Madhurwada is the venue for various Girijan dances, including Darwa of Chattisgarh, programmes by various schools and archery (matsyabedhi and sabdabedhi).
Run up to utsav
As a part of the utsav, a 5K run was organised on Thursday morning at Ramakrishna Beach.
VUDA organised a Rangoli contest on Wednesday at AU Football grounds.
A kite festival at Ramakrishna Beach set the tone for the utsav on the eve of the utsav.
Several sports events were conducted and the prizes will be given away on the final day.
