Elaborate arrangements are made for distribution of 21225 pattas (title deeds) under two different GOs at Pragati Maidan at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday.

While 15,840 families will benefit from regularisation of government land below 100 square yards under GO Ms No. 296, under GO 301 relating to Gajuwaka House Committee, 5385 will get pattas at nominal cost. Under GO 296, the Chief Minister gave away 30,686 pattas in November last in the first phase.

"The value of 19,05,580 square yards given away in the first phase is estimated at ₹ 4763 crore taking the market value at ₹ 25,000 a square yard. At the same rate the 7,96,210 square yards in the second phase will come to ₹1990 crore. The House Committee land of 8,07,983 square yards at ₹20,000 a square yard is estimated at ₹.1,616 crore. All put together, the value of 35.09 lakh acres will come to ₹ 8,369 crore making it the biggest initiative of the kind in the country," Collector Pravin Kumar told reporters here.

Under GO 301, up to 100 square yards the regularisation is free of cost and for others up to 1000 square yards the cost for square yard ranges from ₹25 to ₹500 for residential sites and ₹ 50 to ₹ 1000 for commercial sites.

"For regularisation of sites of more than 1000 square yards under GO 118 more than 7000 applications have been received. But there are representations that the rates are high and the House Committee land rates should be made applicable to them. It is under the consideration of Group of Ministers," Mr Pravin Kumar said.

The pattas have been prepared in a systematic and scientific manner after geo survey, geo-tagging and demarcated with geo-coordinates.

The pattas will be given in the name of women members of the family. Once regularised with full legal rights, they can get plan approval from GVMC or get houses under government schemes.

The remaining pattas, particularly to those not staying at Gajuwaka accounting for 1 to 2 % would be completed in the next one, two months.

To hold the function in a festive atmosphere beneficiaries are being invited to attend with family members and arrangements are being made for 42,000 persons in 3 lakh sft area.

Around 700 buses will pick them up at 93 designated points and officials will coordinate their mobilisation.
