Kona Sasidhar orders re-verification

All approvals given by the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority under the Layout Regularisation Scheme will be subjected to a thorough scrutiny.

Reacting to complaints of irregularities in land allotments and LRS approvals, VUDA Vice-Chairman Kona Sasidhar on Thursday issued orders for re-verification of all approvals under the LRS.

As part of the initiatives taken up for restoring the confidence of people in the services of VUDA, he asked the Planning wing officials and staff to verify thoroughly each and every LRS approval and record lapses, if any, for further action.

The LRS was announced by the government in 2008 for registrations that had taken place up to December 31, 2007. VUDA received 16,616 applications under the scheme, out of which 6,207 were given approvals, 6,530 rejected, and 3,879 pending for lack of full information and documents.

Following allegations, Chief Urban Planner R.J. Vidyullatha, along with a team, on Thursday inspected a site in Survey No. 259/p of Madhurawada following an allegation that approval was given ignoring the Master Plan road passing through the site, in favour of its owner P. Rama Ratnam.

But, on verification, it was found that the LRS approval was issued without any deviation by earmarking an area of 243.33 square yards out of the total area of 1,016 square yards applied for regularisation.

Field survey

The Planning staff of both the VUDA and GVMC conducted field survey under the supervision of the VUDA Chief Urban Planner and certified the approval as genuine.
