A protest was staged by the District Council of All India Youth Federation (AIYF) seeking immediate filling up of posts in various government departments.

Addressing participants in the dharna, AIYF State council secretary P. Chandrasekhar said that the Telugu Desam manifesto had promised to provide jobs and employment opportunities to youth and students on a large scale. It was unfortunate that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had not referred to the issue during the maiden Cabinet meeting held at Andhra University in Visakhapatnam.

He said that Mr. Naidu who had promised to provide one job to each of the households in the State had not taken any measures in that regard so far. There were 4.5 lakh vacancies in all departments in the State and they should be filled through the AP Public Service Commission (APPSC) and the vacancies of the SC/ST backlog posts, SGT, PET teacher posts should also be filled up immediately.

AIYF city secretary M. Srinivas said that Visakhapatnam was the best place for the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) and sought that the city should be developed as an IT hub. He also sought establishment of a tribal university in the district as there were 11 mandals in the Agency area and it could contribute to their employment prospects.

AIYF office-bearers Satyanarayana, Sattiraju, Rambabu, Prasanth, Govind. Upendra and Srinu were among those participated.
