AISF protests against high fee in Vizag's private educational institutions

June 26, 2013 03:21 pm | Updated 03:21 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Several schools and colleges in the city participated in a State-wide bandh on Tuesday against high amount of fee being collected by private institutions and demanding provision of basic amenities for students at schools and college, for which the AISF gave a call. State vice-president of AISF Marrivemula Srinivas who led a protest near Dr. V.S. Krishna Government College criticised the State government for not controlling the private educational institutions though it was aware that they were collecting heavy fee. Several branches were being run after obtaining permission for only one college or school and the State government was also not bothered about supplying textbooks even though the academic year commenced.

Several schools and colleges declared holiday in view of the bandh and the AISF activists led by its leader B. Nagendra, Yerraji, Purnima and others staged dharnas in front of Aditya Degree College, Sri Chaitanya and Narayana Colleges, and other institutions where classes were being held, and forced their closure, Mr. Srinivas said.
