There was an air of expectancy in the large gathering that assembled at the Ayodhya Maidan here on Wednesday to attend the Praja Garjana organised by the Telugu Desam Party.

The crowd that started filtering right from afternoon turned into a steady stream by around 5 p.m. and the ground was filled to near capacity by around 6 p.m. when the TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu reached the venue in a procession.

The gathering of over 25,000 comprised mainly party workers who applauded their leaders all through their speech.

Folk artistes

The eagerly waiting crowd craned their necks to catch a glimpse of their party president as he was escorted to the dais by party leaders from the district including Ashok Gajapati Raju.

The crowd waited patiently right from the word go and there was nary a murmur as their leader appeared to get delayed. The district party unit roped in the services of folk artistes to keep the assembled party workers engaged. There was also a dance troupe that rendered party songs sung to the tune of some popular film numbers, drawing rich applause from the party workers.

Everytime the leaders hit out at Congress Minister from the district Botcha Satyanarayana the crowd responded loudly cheering at the reference. A number of leaders from the district and the neighbouring Visakhapatnam district addressed the gathering before Mr Chandrababu Naidu took centrestage.
