Members of All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) met Joint Commissioner of Police Nagendra Kumar here on Tuesday and demanded the arrest of film director Ram Gopal Varma.

Addressing the media after meeting the Joint CP, AIDWA city Secretary R.N. Madhavi said Mr. Nagendra Kumar told them that investigation is on in the case and action will be taken soon.

The City Police have already booked five cases against the director under IPC Sections 354 A, 500, 504 and 509 and under Section 67 of IT Act, based on a complaint filed by an AIDWA activist, who alleged that the director had insulted her and womanhood during a TV show.

The Joint CP also assured the activists of action if Mr. Ram Gopal Varma comes to the city as planned on Wednesday to host a meeting on the occasion of International Women’s Day. “Mr. Nagendra Kumar asked us to maintain peace and promised to take necessary steps,” said Ms. Madhavi.
