Adivasis from about 7 tribal villages took out rally in Paderu to protest the district administration’s decision to make Dallapalli a tourist spot, on Friday. The adivasis from the villages were led by members of NGO Dhaatri.

According to the Adivasis and members of Dhaatri, including the pristine Dallapalli into the tourism circuit, will not only spoil the environment but also disturb the tranquillity and peace.

Dallapalli that is located in Paderu mandal in Visakhapatnam agency is known for its scenic beauty and waterfalls.

Gayatri Thayappa of Dhaatri pointed out that tourism will spoil the environment, as dumping of plastic will be the major cause of concern.

“We are not against total ban of tourists, but what we demand is a well-planned eco-tourism model and most importantly, the adivasis should be made a stakeholder and be involved in the model,” she said.

According to her, so far the authorities concerned did not even bother to inform the adivasis about their plans. The Adivasis on Friday met the ITDA officials and submitted a memorandum.
