Kerala Chief Minister to inaugurate the conference

The 3rd All-India conference of the Adivasi Adhikar Rashtriya Manch will be held at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant here from Tuesday.

The conference will debate on implementation of forest rights Act, mining, lack of development and the problems of tribal people across the country.

The social, economic and political issues concerning the tribal people will be discussed and decisions will be taken at the conference.

The Adivasi Adhikar Rashtriya Manch (AARM) was formed in 2008 to unite various organisations leading struggles on the issues of tribal peoplelike education, health, water and displacement due to projects.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the conference. All India AARM vice president Brinda Karat, MP and treasurer of AARM Jitendra Chaudhury and AARM chairperson Baja Ban Riyan will participate in the inaugural session.

A tribal cultural fest was organised at the Gandhi statue near GVMC on Monday by the Girijan artistes, who came from various parts of the country. The participants presented the dances of their respective regions along with performers of Praja Natya Mandali.

The troupes would also showcase their art at Gurajada Kalakshetram at VSP on June 20 and on the Kancharapalem Main Road on the next day.

AARM reception committee chairman Midiyam Babu Rao called upon the public to participate in large numbers and make the programme a success.
