Action plan to tackle traffic problem in city

A meeting held on Saturday under the chairmanship of GVMC Commissioner M.V.Sathyanarayana on evolving strategies to tackle traffic problems keeping in view the city requirements beyond 2030 drew a plan of action.

A Delhi-based organisation I-Trans, which studied the geographical conditions in the city for 10 months, made some recommendations in its document.

The meeting discussed on BRT construction, footpaths creation and introduction of cycling zones.

The meeting recommended the development of Gajuwaka, Pendurthi and Madhurawada and also pedestrian zones and multi-level car parking zones at Dwarkanagar, Dabagardens, Jagadamba and Gajuwaka. A 48-km foot path construction and also a 3- km cycling zone need to be created, the participants felt.

Additional commissioner (projects) B.Nagendra Kumar, Chief Engineer B.Jayarami Reddy, Executive engineer Ramesh, VUDA chief urban planner Vidhyullatha, Chief Engineer Viswanatham and I-Trans director Anitha Arora participated.
