Act fast on division of institutions: MP

May 11, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Member of Parliament from Anakapalle Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao sought Centre’s intervention in resolving the pending issue of division of institutions between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on basis of population.

Time-bound manner

Raising the issue under Rule 377 in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, the MP noted that the institutions listed in Schedule 9 and 10 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act should have been apportioned between the two states in a time-bound manner, but the Central Committee appointed for the purpose was not resolving the dispute between the two States. There were 196 institutions that need to be divided. A delegation of AP Ministers had met the President on the issue, he said. Requesting the Centre to immediately resolve the issue, he wanted the institutions to be apportioned based on the population ratio of 42:58 at the earliest.
