Accused in certificate racket found dead

The body of Mamidi Murali Krishna (39) of Mamidi Global Education and HR Solutions Private Limited, who was arrested by the City Task Force on December 10 on the charge of running a fake certificate racket, was found in a Tata Safari that was parked close to a petrol bunk at Yendada on Thursday. Murali Krishna had come out on bail about five days ago.

PM Palem police said they received a call from a passer-by about a car parked by the highway and with a person slumped on the front seat. “ We rushed to the spot and found the body in the driver’s seat, with traces of fluid oozing out of the mouth and nostrils. Later, on checking ID card and driving licence, we identified him as Mamidi Murali Krishna,” said PM Palem SHO S. Appalaraju.

Murali Krishna had allegedly issued fabricated certificates to about 400 students and collected Rs. 3 crore. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police T. Ravi Kumar Murthy, he had a well-spread network and was connected with someofficials in universities.

Regarding the death, the police kept all options open, including suicide and murder. “Initially, we have booked a case under Section 174 of Cr Pc and sent the CLUES team to the scene of offence,” said Mr. Ravi Kumar Murthy.
