The seeding of details of LPG consumers with the oil marketing companies (OMCs) and the banks for the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme of the Government of India is proceeding on schedule in the district, Joint Collector Pravin Kumar said.

Over 90 per cent of population has been enrolled for Aadhaar card in the district and numbers have been generated for over 78 per cent of them.

Efforts are being taken to ensure that these cards are delivered on a priority in the district, he told mediapersons here on Monday.

Explaining that there were some gaps in the enrolment he said permanent enrolment centres have been set up in different parts of the district.

The district administration was coordinating with all departments to ensure that the unique identity cards were delivered to all the persons in the district. The next step was to ensure that the oil companies had compiled on how many of their consumers had Aadhaar number, how many had enrolled and how many were yet to enrol.

The distributors have been instructed to go to the doorstep of each of their consumers and verify the details and explain the process of seeding.

In case any area reported poor enrolment a new centre would be set up there as there are enough kits with the district administration, the JC explained.

The OMCs through their distributors were responsible to collect the Aadhaar information of their consumers and the banks too have been instructed to open zero balance accounts wherever necessary.

The consumer on her part has to provide a copy of the Aadhaar card along with a filled-in form to the LPG distributor along with a copy of the first page of the bank account passbook.

Another step is to provide a copy of Aadhaar card along with a filled-in application to the bank to help them seed the account.

Once this process is complete then the Government of India would transfer the subsidy amount in advance to the consumer to help her/ him to pay the full price for a LPG cylinder.

Those who have National Population Register card can use it for the seeding purpose, he clarified.
