The Eastern Naval Command has seen a lot of progress and acquisition of a number of potent platforms thanks to the dedication and hard work of the officers and sailors of the command, outgoing Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Naval Command Vice-Admiral Anil Chopra said.

Addressing flag officers, officers and sailors of the ENC at a ceremonial parade organised to bid farewell to him at INS Circars here on Thursday, he said it was a matter of pride for him to have headed the premier operational command when prestigious acquisitions from all three dimensions of the Navy were inducted into the ENC. Indigenous stealth frigates INS Satpura and INS Sahyadri, new generation offshore patrol vessels INS Sumedha, long range maritime patrol aircraft P8i, advanced jet trainers Hawk-132, nuclear propelled submarine INS Chakra, and the three ISVs were some of the major inductions during his two-and-a-half-year stewardship of the command.

During Admiral Chopra’s period at the helm the ENC has seen first ever visits by warships of Bangladesh, Myanmar and China to Visakhapatnam apart from the visits of chiefs of Naval Staff of Bangladesh and Australian navies. Chief of Staff of ENC Vice-Admiral Bimal Verma conducted the farewell parade. The ceremonial parade was followed by the traditional ‘Pulling Out’ ceremony.
