The last phase of the VUDA Colony at Pedagantyada is Samathanagar-Phase III. Stretching from Nookalamma temple to Rehabilitation Colony, around 300 plots form a part of the colony which has been divided into LIG, MIG, and HIG.

With an ample space being provided for green stretches, Samathanagar, formed in 1992, reflects a picture of unity in diversity. A couple of decades ago, people from various communities preferred the locality as their home as it is close to various PSUs and industries. It is the same reason that drew nearly 300 families together.

What is more convenient is that the members of Samathanagar Owner’s Welfare Association make possible efforts to address the concerns of the people and provide a hassle-free environment to the residents.

The association not only created a platform for the residents to meet and voice their concerns, but also ensures to settle them amicably. The recent initiative, taken up by the team, is the development of a park over one-acre site.

However, the beautification project, costing Rs.12 lakh has been put on hold for a long period. “Samatha Park was taken up in public-private partnership mode where our contribution is Rs.4 lakh and the remaining part is taken care by the GVMC. Once the corporation clears the pending payment, we plan to create a walking track, a fountain, and amusement rides,” president of the association and chairman of joint action committee K. Satyam Babu has said.

Free homeo clinic

Just adjacent to the Samatha Park, a free homeo clinic is built by the members of Rotary Club, Gajuwaka. “In a few months, the clinic will be ready to cater to the needs of the locals, especially the elderly persons who cannot commute frequently to far away places,” says C. Venkata Nageswara Rao, a resident.

The colony’s two community halls and a Kala Vedika are the places where the residents meet and celebrate festivals and special events.
