Potter maniacs can now heave a sigh of relief as almost a decade-long wait to flip through the eighth script of the Harry Potter series comes to an end.

With the brand’s new edition ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed’ Child (Part I and II), tailor-made for the theatre, hitting the bookshelves across the world on Sunday, the time has finally arrived for Potter fans to rejoice. Unlike the earlier launch of the popular series, the play, based on a new and original story by J.K. Rowling and co-authors Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, has been presented for the first time on stage in London a day ahead of the book launch.

Those who pre-ordered the script say they could not wait to thumb through the pages. Alekhya Vijjapu, who completed Masters in Engineering Management, says, “It is more than a celebration for me as I have already finished reading seven books of Harry Potter. The characters of the plots give wings to our imagination. Perhaps, it is the most popular genre that hooked even engineering graduates to books.”

While e-commerce retailers such as Flipkart and Amazon offer 34 to 35 per cent off on the MRP, book stores have come up with a list of discount options. “This is going to be a real treat for ardent fans of J.K. Rowling who were under the impression that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (seventh book) would be the last in the series to drift into the magical wizarding world. Much to everyone’s surprise, another sequel in the series has popped up after nine years. The registers are already filled to the brim with pre-orders for the new edition,” says Anil Nevatia, director of Pages bookstore, treating the Potter lovers to a range of discount coupons. The bookstore in association with Jyothi Book Depot is celebrating a launch party of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on its premises located at Rednam Gardens on Sunday.

City bakers add novelty to the celebrations in a new format. Catering to the book launch parties, Bakers Castle is whipping up digital image cakes incorporating edible ink and paper.
