It was a memorable day for the senior citizens as they could be seen greeting warmly, pairing with their friends and dancing to the tunes of Leonard White and his team.
Close to hundred people who were above 60 years of age turned up to celebrate ‘senior citizens day out’ here on Friday. To make the elderly people feel at home and entertain them with music, dance and feast, Vizag Entertainment Society (VES) organised the event at Hotel Grand Bay.
The day appeared to be special for many as they have gathered from Vijayawada and Rajahmundry apart from the City of Destiny. The event saw men from St. Aloysius School catching up with their buddies after a long time. Some of the women met their dear ones from St. Joseph’s Girls High School and Fort Catholic Girls School.
Speaking on the occasion, 75 year-old woman S. Jesudasan said: “Catching up with old buddies always turns out to be a pleasant experience. Though personal commitments make us stay apart from family and friends, the event brought us closer.”
The day also saw 40 year-old neighbours leafing through their childhood days. “Meeting your loved ones has become a luxury these days. It is so exciting to see some of our old neighbours of One Town area over here. With most of us leading a mundane life, catching up with friends will always make us happy,” said Anthony D’Cruz, a senior citizen.
Some blamed the television for separating them from each other while others said that the city has gone through sea-change of transition both positive and negative aspects. President of VES Rudy Gallyoti, secretary Helene Howell and others also participated.
