The delight of the teachers and the curiosity of the students came alive as soon as their eyes met after four decades.
Students of CBM High School 1968 batch celebrated their reunion, recollecting their favourite moments. Everybody had something to share and explain, and the school, they said, allowed them to discover the hidden talent in them and pursue a career of their choice.
Secretary of Bala Vikas Foundation Narava Prakasa Rao was a product of the school. He said he was an SPL during his schooldays. “The instinct of leading my team excited me the most. May be that’s the reason why I continue to be a leader even at this age,” he explained
Most of the students said they enjoyed participating in NSS and scouting. Recollecting the old days, B.V. Ganga Raju said he loved to play kabaddi and football at school and was an all-rounder.
Rajaratnam Chatti remembered his favourite teacher Archibald, who had passed away. “He wanted us to be independent and used to inspire the team. Above all, his beautiful narration of stories impressed us and we miss him a lot,” he said.
“After our batch, SSLC was replaced by Class X. I was very fond of social studies and my passion was collecting the maps of mines and industries,” shared P.S.R. Lakshmana Rao Patrudu.
For G. Srirama Murthy, who was a maths teacher, the school means a lot. He said that he had grown in the school from a teacher to headmaster pursuing ICWA, BA and MA. English and social studies teacher Jersey Srinivasa Rao took a little time to recognise her students as she said most of them have changed a lot. The warmth of the students touched her.
Science teacher N. Sulochana who was looking graceful even in her 80s confessed that her students never troubled her. Asked whether any of the students complimented her beauty, she replied blushing: “Unfortunately, nobody did that. May be they were scared of me as I used to be very strict.”
