In a city like Vizag, where around 1,500 Rajasthani households live in harmony, the festival of colours is the time to spread warmth and cheer. This year, to mark the onset of spring and to soak in the spirit of Holi, the Rajasthani Sanskritic Mandal plans to conduct events like ‘Thandi Holi Ka Puja,’ ‘Holi Dhan’, and ‘Hasya Kavi Sammelan’.

To treat the Hindi-speaking people to a generous dose of humorous poetry, renowned poets, Padma Shri awardee Surender Sharma from Delhi, Suman Dube from Lucknow, and Ashok Sundarani and Navnit Hullad from Mumbai, are scheduled to participate. The stretch of the Beach Road opposite Kali Mata temple will come alive as members of the communities plan to perform ‘Thandi Holi Ka Puja’ on March 16 from 10:30 a.m. In the evening, ‘Holi Dahan’ will draw people across the city.

Addressing the media here on Friday, mandal president Chandmal Agarwal said: “Apart from these programmes, use of natural colours is recommended.”

Vice-president of the mandal Ashok Kumar Mandhani, secretary Rajesh Agarwal, and joint secretary Shankarlal Sharma said, to continue the spirit of Holi, ‘Hasya kavi sammelan’ is scheduled at Port Kalavani Auditorium on March 23.
