A mix of ideas, mediums and a journey of four years have been aptly portrayed in a vast body of art works at ‘Confluences’ - the exhibition of painting, printmaking, installations and sculptures put up by final year students of Bachelor of Fine Arts of Andhra University at their department.

A look around the works displayed by 26 budding artists reminds you of the words of Vincent Van Gogh that ‘paintings have a life of their own derived from the painter’s soul’. Seemingly simple installations like a bunch of tinkling bangles or a figure of a newborn baby have deeply imbibed meanings when seen through the artist’s eyes.

Appala Narasimha’s works of 10 sculptures titled ‘Amma Kongu’ made in varied mediums tell a story of a child’s imagination and playfulness with the mother’s sari.

K. Mrudula has presented her perception of the ‘positives’ and the ‘negatives’ of society through an installation made with colourful taps and nylon threads.

“The society has all kinds of people and we take a mix of the positive and negatives from them. The installation shows this blend of varied shades of human beings and what we imbibe from them in the life’s journey,” she says. One of her other art works is a human form, more of a self-portrait, with half-developed wings suggesting that completion of education is one side of life. “The career takes wings only after we start work,” she adds. The exhibition will be on till April 27.
